THE SANTA FEAN MAGAZINE 2007 Home of the Year Merit Award
Jury Comments: Builder Michael Hurlocker moves Santa Fe style into the 21st century with an immediately recognizable aesthetic rooted in the best of our region's design traditions. This house, west of downtown, was sited to capture views of both the city lights and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains from nearly every room. The ease of indoor/outdoor living is maximized through the use of modern materials: colored concrete floors, immense sliding glass doors that open to well-placed portals, stonework, hard-troweled walls in an array of muted jewel tones, and steel tubing accentuated with copper flashing—all rendered in a classic and sophisticated simplicity.
